A Primer of Show, Don't Tell - Fear

Some students are still looking for more examples to guide them along on this journey so here's a small list of sentences.



 

1. "Dont' make any sound," she whispered, clutching at her chest, her limbs trembling in fear.


2. With her eyes widening in terror, she held the bat with trembling hands and muttered, "I'm not ready for this, I'm not ready."


3. A chill ran down her spine, and she stood transfixed at the train wreck as she gasped, "Please, someone help, please."


4. "I knew this would happen," she murmured, recoiling with her heart pounding in her ears.


5. Sweat beading on her forehead, she backed away, repeating, "I shouldn't have come here, I shouldn't have."


6. "I can't do this alone," she muttered, stumbling back with her pulse racing.


7. Heart pounding, she froze, whispering, "I have to get out."


8. Body trembling uncontrollably, she shrank back, uttering, "This isn't real."


9. Eyes darting frantically, she swallowed hard, pleading, "Someone, please make it stop."


10. "I'm not strong enough," she murmured, her hands trembling violently as she clung to herself.


11. "I don't want to die," she whimpered, her voice trembling and her eyes wide with fear.


12. With a shaky breath, she muttered as she clasped her hands as if in prayer, "Please, let this nightmare end."


13. "I can't face it," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the pounding of her heart.


14. As her knees buckled beneath her, she cried out in a voice filled with desperation, "Please don't make me do this."


15. "I'm not brave enough, I'm not," she admitted, her voice wavering as tears streamed down her cheeks.


16. With a sinking feeling in her gut, she murmured with regret tainting her words, "I should have listened."


17. "I'm so scared, I'm so scared," she repeated, her breath coming in short gasps and her body trembling uncontrollably.


18. "It's coming for me," she whispered, her eyes darting around the darkened room, searching for an escape.


19. With a shaky exhale, she murmured with defeat weighing heavily in her voice, "I can't do this anymore."

20. "Please, don't leave me alone," she pleaded, her voice quivering, her hands reaching out for comfort.
